Greek teams are participating in more than 75% of all COST actions (around 190 projects). This participation ranks Greece in 12th place among all other COST countries (COST, 2010).
In the former programming period 2000-2006 €21m national contribution was given to research teams for participating in EUREKA, while in the current programming period 2007-2015, only the participation in EUREKA-Eurostars has been decided with a small budget of €1.78m.
In FP7[1] a total of 1769 (12.22% of all teams from all countries) Greek teams are participating in 1205 contracts ranking Greece 9th in terms of a number of participations and budget share. In order to support public research organisations to participate in the FPs government provides additional funding to the participating public organisations.

In total, Greek teams have participated in 52 actions of those 24 are active (NETWATCH) as follows:
Participation in Joint Technology Initiatives
Greece participates in four initiatives with a budget of €13m.
Participation in Joint Programming Initiatives
Greece participates in the first Joint Programming Initiative “Alzheimer’s and other neurodegenerative diseases” however no budget has been allocated so far. Also there is strong interest for the forthcoming initiative “Antimicrobial Resistance”.

National programmes open for foreign research teams
The only programme which provides funding to non national researchers is “Support of Postdoctoral Researchers” launched on November 2010 with a budget of €30m. The measure provides research grants for Greek or non-nationals that have acquired their doctorate from a non-Greek university in order to conduct research in Greek research organisations.
