Besides the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education there are also other ministries that contribute substantially to the priority-setting and funding of strategic thematic areas. There is good coordination between the Ministry and sectoral ministries with R&D portfolios, such as the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries and the Ministry of Climate and Energy.
The Danish Energy Agency under the Ministry of Climate and Energy has its own advisory body on energy research. This body has developed special strategies for different fields of energy research. The purpose is that research projects should relate to these strategies, but there are no priorities between the strategies. The main measures to implement these strategies are the Programme for Energy Technology Development and Demonstration Program (EDDP), Green Labs DK, ForskEL, ForskVE, and ELforsk. The EDDP started in 2007 and has in 2010 a budget of €55m. Green Labs DK was launched in 2010 and has in 2010 a budget of approximately €8m. The budget of the Strategic Research Council for energy is in 2010 at €41m.
The Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, The Directorate for Food, Fisheries and Agri-Business launched several research programmes over the last years. The most recent initiative is the Green Development and Demonstration Programme.
